Business Class Flights To Bologna

If you’re heading to Bologna, you better be bringing a big appetite. Bologna is the capital of Emilia-Romagna, a region that is the original home to such culinary staples like parmesan cheese, bolognese sauce, balsamic vinegar and mortadella,. Food is everything in Bologna, there might not be a city in all of Italy that is better for food. A big cultural appetite is also necessary. Founded in 1088, the University of Bologna is the oldest continually operating university in Europe and one of the oldest in the world. In Bologna, you’ll find all the hallmarks of historic academic tradition. A constantly replenishing population of students pack the bars and argue arts and politics while still managing to have some fun. A big appetite is also a good idea when you take business class flights to Bologna. That’s because you’ll want to try everything you see on the complimentary food menu, whether it’s fresh salads or pasta. A free glass of wine or champagne can help with any flight-related stress or jitters. Not that there will be any. On business class flights to Bologna stress vanishes; you’re able to board the flight early, indulge in a much larger baggage allowance, and recline in a flat-bed chair without worrying about bumping elbows with anybody.

Bologna Airport and Business Class Lounge

Business class flights to Bologna will land at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport. Named after famed Italian engineer and inventor Guglielmo Marconi, this medium-sized airport recently began upgrading its services thanks to growing popularity. More commercial areas have been added and, starting in October 2018, a monorail will be providing rapid transit to Bologna Centrale railway station. Until then, the 4 mile distance from airport to city can be covered by a shuttle bus that takes about 20 minutes. Business class flights to Bologna will also allow you access to business class lounges. Separated from the usual hustle and bustle of the airport, a stop in the business class lounge is a great respite from the wear and tear of travel. These lounges are designed to maximize your enjoyment. Get off your feet and kick up your heels in a media center, where you can watch sports on a big screen TV or dig into an issue from a massive collection of international magazines. Hi-speed Wi-Fi and charging stations for your devices make it possible to catch up on any last minute work or emails you need to send. Finally, complimentary snacks and drinks will recharge and refuel you before continuing on your journey.

Things To Do In Bologna

Bologna has a couple of nicknames: La Rossa (The Red, for its stridently left wing politics), La Dotta (The Learned, in reference to its history as Europe’s original university town), but perhaps the most important and accurate is La Grassa or The Fat. Bologna is where many staples of Italian food were first created. Mortadella, tortellini, and lasagne al bolognese all originated on these humble streets. This passion and craftsmanship towards food remains here to this day. Chefs, from the grandest restaurant to the simplest, are constantly attempting perfection. Their goal is purity; to create foods that perfectly express both the flavors of the freshest ingredients and the intentions of the chef. The only concern is that after sampling one classic dish of Bolognese pasta or cured meat, you’ll forever ruin having that dish anywhere else. Check out some of the city’s food markets, which are some of the best in Italy. In the Quadrilatero, (a centuries old grid of cobblestone streets), browse amongst stalls housing the finest selection of cheeses you’ve ever seen. For a fantastic dining experience, get a reservation at Pappagallo. Located in the center of town inside of a medieval building, this Bolognese institution serves some of the best and most authentic local cuisine. The yellow lasagne is a particular delight.

After you’ve supped and drank a couple of glasses of the cheap, but world class local wine, how about a late-night stroll to the Piazza Maggiore? The central square of Bologna, considered the belly-button of the cosmos by locals, is a stunning public space filled with medieval buildings that house many of the municipality's administrative buildings. During the day it is filled with harried businesspeople, children chasing pigeons, and old men sipping on espresso and yammering back and forth. At night, students flood the nearby bars, turning the square into a beautiful and raucous party. If heights are your thing, take a tour up the Torre Asinelli, one of the city’s two leaning towers, and experience a ravishing view of the city’s medieval skyline.

Getting Around Bologna

Driving in the city center of Bologna is a bit of a nightmare. The ancient streets were not designed with cars in mind, and traffic is common. Trying to find a parking spot is a nearly impossible task. Luckily, the city is serviced by an excellent and expansive bus system that will get you to most of the popular sites. One ticket covers a 75 minute ride in any direction. For a better value purchase a Citypass, which permits 8 journeys of up to 75 minutes, or a Day Ticket which is valid for a full 24hrs. All of these can be purchased in bars, newspaper kiosks and self-service machines at the airport or any train stations. If you need to grab a cab, be aware that they very rarely stop when hailed on the street, and you’re better off ordering one.

When people think of Italy, Bologna is not the first city that comes to mind. While Rome and Naples are filled with tourists and tourist traps, a better and more classic Italian experience is available in Bologna. A cultural powerhouse, thanks to the presence of Europe’s oldest university, you can spend a whole day just wandering around Bologna’s glorious medieval neighborhoods, filled with glinting sandstone buildings that are topped off with pristine terracotta roofs. Hopefully the stroll has worked up a pretty big appetite because Bologna is a foodie paradise, and taking business class flights to Bologna will have you tasting some of your favorite Italian foods the way they were meant to taste. Enjoy beautiful Bologna!
